Our Green Lake location is looking for a Lead Preschool teacher ASAP. This role is able to be part time and flexible. We love working with parents to help them balance work & parenting and that includes our staff! We are able to accommodate availability as little as 12 hours a week up to 25 hours per week.

Overview of The Inc.
The Inc., Community Coworking + Playschool is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that aims to achieve gender equity in entrepreneurship, in the workplace and home through the creation of community-driven, neighborhood-centric workspaces for parents with onsite care for their young children. The Inc. is pioneering a unique solution to the high-demand of flexible, affordable childcare in Seattle and fostering a positive, child-friendly workplace culture that inspires connection, confidence and growth for parents at any stage of their career development or entrepreneurial journey.
The Inc. opened its doors February 2017 and is located in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle inside of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
The Inc. Playschool
The Playschool is The Inc.’s onsite toddler and preschool program whose purpose is to support parents of young children by providing a quality childcare and preschool experience with a flexible schedule. The Toddler Room welcomes steady walkers up to 2.5 year olds, while the Preschool Room welcomes children 2.5 years old-PreK. Drop-in hours are between 9am-1pm, Monday-Friday and the daily schedule includes a variety of activities designed to encourage children to practice growing development skills in fun ways, while their parents work nearby.
The Inc.’s Preschool Lead Teacher
The Inc.’s creative and flexible teacher possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to take on the unique challenges of a flexible preschool, where the class attendance and dynamic can vary day by day. This educator is intuitive, observant and has the ability to engage each child by recognizing their interests that motivate play and learning and act on opportunities to teach and practice developmental skills. This talented individual demonstrates a carefree spirit that embraces and recognizes the process of “making a mess,” while also performing diligently the tasks of lesson planning and materials preparation so that a variety of fun learning projects are always at the ready to meet children’s emerging and evolving interests.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and implement curriculum, including arts & crafts, games, sensory exploration, and projects that provide opportunities for children to practice skills in all areas of development: Language/Literacy, Math, Science, Fine Motor, Gross Motor, Music, Art, Social/Emotional, and SelfCare
Submit lesson plans to Playschool Program Manager regularly for accountability, collaboration and materials support
Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, structured instruction, table work, projects, outside play, etc.)
Meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of a mixed-aged group of children between 2.5 - 5 years old
Promote literacy and early education
Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional conflicts
Build relationships with parents and communicate with them about behavioral and developmental concerns, strategies, successes
Establish policies and procedures while in and out of the classroom
Become familiar with emergency procedures and protocol
Clean and sterilize equipment and toys daily
Supervise children at all times
Identify and work to resolve any problems or issues, consulting with Board members, Playschool Committee Members, and other early learning professionals if necessary
Participate in fundraising and marketing for The Inc.
Work cooperatively and collaboratively with Board members and Playschool Committee members. We welcome your ideas!
Support Toddler Room, Cowork + Coplay Room, and Community Cultivator with other tasks as needed if/when preschool children aren’t present for the day.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in a preschool classroom preferred
Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred
Current Certification in Child First Aid & CPR
Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
Excellent communication and instructional skills, including proficiency in oral and written English language
Ability to be flexible, agile and work in and ever changing environment
Balance of a creative mind with practical acumen
